Kathak – Rouh, Spoken Word, and Ghazal

Part of Mystic Voices Festival.

This art form, Lucknow Gharana Kathak dance style embodies mystic themes due to its Bhakti and Sufi traditions, rooted in a thousand years of artistic, literary, and musical Hindu and Muslim co-existence.

Choreography which brings to life both the classical & the contemporary to reveal the uniqueness of KATHAK – a North Indian dance style

Taal (rhythm), Ang (grace), and Abhinaya (expression) — By integrating these three essentials, Natalia presents the splendor of Kathak, a leading classical dance from North India, on stages internationally. As a new generation artist, Natalia’s distinctive technique highlights the uniqueness of this dance, through an emphasis on subtly detailed aesthetics and a striking intensity in sharp footwork, poses, and spins. This is due to her holistic training, which balanced the dynamism of the contemporary with the stylistics of tradition. Rooted in a multi-ethnic background, Natalia utilizes dance as a means of transcending cultural barriers. Natalia’s journey as a dancer started from the tender age of four years old and since the beginning, upon her very first sight of Kathak, Natalia became passionate and dedicated about training and mastering the dance form, with the encouragement of her family. She has had the privilege of learning from great masters of this style most notable of them all is Pandit Birju Maharaj.
