Rukmini Vijayakumar – Bharatanatyam

Rukmini Vijayakumar is an Indian Bharatanatyam dancer and actress. Having studied varies forms of dance including jazz, tap, African, ballet and modern and toured extensively across the world, Rukmini has a wealth of experience to share with aspiring dancers and dance enthusiasts alike. One of the stars of the Indian classical dance scene, Rukmini is a popular performer with Indian arts audiences around the world, particularly in India and the USA. The Margam is  the name for a traditional repertoire set of a Bharatnatyam dancer, and Rukmini’s  approach is innovative and unique, as she tells stories of mythological events, emotions and beautiful poetry with grace, beauty and athletic dance choreography.

Ahead of her performance on April 23rd 2016, attendees can gain greater insight into what challenges, motivates and inspires dancers like Rukmini on her journey to becoming one of the most popular young dancers of India during the Sannidhi Dialogues at  The Cornerstone Theatre, Liverpool Hope University between 2:30pm and 4pm.
