Aditi Mangaldas is a dance revolutionary. Working for many years within the classical Indian form of Kathak she is now forging a dynamic approach, refashioning traditional vocabulary with 21st century sound, rhythm and light. It is this interplay between the contemporary and the classical which makes her work so intriguing and engaging.

Her latest piece Inter_rupted is inspired by fragility, disintegration and renewal and features the richness and intricacy for which Mangaldas is so celebrated. The show features seven dancers, including Aditi herself, with music composed by Sajid Akbar performed live by on stage musicians.

Mangaldas, recognised as one of India’s leading dance makers, and is making her first appearance at the Barbican in this Dance Umbrella Commission.
