Dancer-choreographer Aakash Odedra presents an exhilarating mixed programme, created in collaboration with choreographers Lewis Major and Damien Jalet.
Murmur and Inked is a new double bill from the Aakash Odedra Company. Originally trained in the South Asian styles of Kathak and Bharat Natyam, Odedra has developed a distinctive movement style, and is one of the most sought after British choreographers/dancers today.
Murmur: Diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, Aakash found conventional education at school very challenging. He felt defined by his learning difficulties, but not his abilities. As written language was so alien, dance became his preferred mode of expression.
In Inked, choreographed by Laurence Olivier award winner Damien Jalet, the body becomes a place of transformation, an envelope marked, folded and metamorphosed by its journey through a ritualised space.
This unique work includes the most extraordinarily beautiful and thoughtful use of projected moving images and digitally generated image technology.
