Explore the building blocks of Odissi dance with Padma Shri Ileana Citaristi.
Ileana has a long and illustrious career as a performer, teacher and scholar with close associations with Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.
The workshop is open to beginners as well as advanced practitioners, and will be of special interest to those who hold classes in Odissi dance and wish to explore and clarify the training of the basics in their curriculum.
The content will include: chari, bhramari, hasta mudra viniyoga (10 am to 12 pm) and arasa in triputa and roopak tala (12 pm to 2 pm).
After the workshop at Colet House, participants will move to Bhavan to mark the UK release of Ileana Citaristi’s autobiography. Ileana has kindly agreed to share some of the remarkable facts of her journey in dance which took her thousands of miles from Bergamot in Italy, the place of her birth, to Bhubaneshwar, where she found her Guru and built a career and finally her home. The lecture will be free for all to attend, starting at 4 pm.
