the feet may learn the steps, but only the spirit can dance...

Mohiniyattam, also spelled Mohiniattam (Malayalam: മോഹിനിയാട്ടം), is a classical dance form from Kerala, India. Believed to have originated in 16th century, it is one of the eight Indian classical dance forms. It is considered a very graceful form of dance with ‘lasya’ being the predominant characteristic (graceful gentle movements that are likened to the swaying of the paddy fields in the gentle breeze). It is usually performed as solo recitals by women but is becoming increasingly popular for group presentations.

Upahaar School of Dance offers regular classes and training in Mohiniyattam at Sutton & Croydon, South London.
