Yuva Gati – Centre for Advanced Dance Training is an initiative of the Department of Education’s Music & Dance Scheme. There are 9 Centres across England offering training in Contemporary dance, Ballet, Hip Hop, Urban and South Asian dance styles. The national South Asian dance strand led by DanceXchange in partnership with Sampad South Asian Arts in Birmingham, offers training in Kathak and Bharatanatyam.
Yuva Gati is aimed at young dance students in the age group of 11 to 16 years, who are learning Kathak or Bharatanatyam and are interested in developing their dance technique and skills further. Young dancers don’t need to have prior advanced training in either of the styles to join the programme. It is more important that they have passion, determination and commitment to learn dance and are supported by their parents. Minimum one year training is sufficient to join the programme.
Yuva Gati – Centre for Advanced Dance Training are offering Talent Identification workshops in March, April and May 2016 to identify and recruit young talented students in the age group of 11 to 16 years for the new term starting in September 2016. Shortlisted students from these workshops will be invited to the audition in June which will be held at DanceXchange in Birmingham.
If you are teaching Kathak or Bharatanatyam and would like us to visit your dance classes and offer a free workshop to your students then please get in touch with us. The two hour workshop will be held at your dance class and will consist of a sessions on technique, followed by a creative session and presentation on how the Yuva Gati training works.
