The Centre for Indian Classical Dance will present ‘RASIKA’, a special event with special people dancing at the Peepul Centre on Orchardson Avenue in Leicester LE4 6DP, on Saturday 11th April 2015, starting at 2-30 pm.
‘RASIKA’ is an inter-generational arts-based social inclusion initiative. The project is supported by the Big Lottery Fund to deliver a ten week programme of dance activities that will engage with different cultural and support organisations within the city area, culminating in this Showcasing Event.
This project of ten weeks of workshops was led by CICD’s senior and experienced dance teachers and has been providing beneficiaries of differing levels of ability the chance to engage in a new, healthy activity that will promote cohesion and to use this as a platform for shared resources and learning, between individuals and different organisations.
Ten organisations in total will be participating in this showcase and sharing event, presenting the skills learnt through Indian dance and music. These are mainly people who hardly get an opportunity to share and meet others, and they will be part of this unique cultural platform, in many cases of the first time on their lives. Youth groups of the CICD studio and of Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre will also support this event and will perform in the ‘RASIKA’s Special People’s event.
The tickets for the performance are reasonably priced and are only £3. They are available in advance from CICD on 0116 2552862, by mobile on 07894650811, or on 11th April from 2 pm directly at the Peepul Centre in Leicester. Early booking is advised.
